Unc’s Pizza is officially open in Capitol Park.
We’ve been working on this one for a long time, and we’re so happy to finally welcome you in.
We set out to build the kind of neighborhood pizza place we always wished existed. Something that feels a little familiar the first time you walk in, where you can grab a booth, order a pizza and a root beer on tap, settle in with friends or family and stay awhile.
At the center of our Food Menu is Detroit-style pizza. We spent months working on the dough and landed on a 36-hour sourdough biga that bakes up light and airy, with the crispy cheese edges you want from a Detroit-style pie.
But we had just as much fun with the rest of the menu. There are whole chicken wings, housemade aged brick cheese sticks, pepperoni balls, sandwiches, a really good burger and plenty of other old-school favorites made from scratch with really good ingredients.
And because a neighborhood pizza place should also be a good place to grab a drink, our Bar Menu includes cocktails, beer and wine, plus Sprecher root beer on tap.
The name Unc’s comes from Larry’s Uncle Paul, whom Larry always called simply “Unc.” But the idea behind it became bigger than one person. It’s a tribute to the people who show up for us, make room for us and make us feel like we belong. You can read more about the story behind Unc’s on our Our Story page.
Mostly, we wanted Unc’s to feel warm, easy and welcoming. A place for really good food and good company, where there’s always a spot for you.
We’re finally here. Come see us at 1133 Griswold St. in Capitol Park, downtown Detroit.
Pull up a chair. You’re among friends.
